Alisa Akst

Alisa Akst graduated from Union College in 2005 with a B.A. in Music and European History. She earned an M.A. in Social Studies from Columbia University’s Teachers College in 2006. Ms. Akst earned her J.D. from New England School of Law in 2012 and is a member of the New York Bar and admitted to practice in the New York Federal Courts. Prior to joining Akst & Akst, she worked in the nonprofit sector at a private grant-making foundation and at Legal Outreach, where she created legal education curricula for middle school and high school students. She also worked at the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct and clerked for magistrates at the Division of Administrative Law Appeals in Boston, Massachusetts. Ms. Akst specializes in temporary and permanent employment-based visas, citizenship, defense of marriage fraud allegations and waiver applications.
