Alisa Akst

Managing Attorney


Alisa Akst graduated from Union College in 2005 with a B.A. in Music and European History. She earned an M.A. in Social Studies from Columbia University’s Teachers College in 2006 and her J.D. from New England School of Law in 2012. Ms. Akst is a member of the New York Bar and is admitted to practice in the New York Federal Courts.

Prior to joining Akst & Akst PLLC, Ms. Akst worked in the nonprofit and public sectors, including at a private grant-making foundation, Legal Outreach, the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct, and the Division of Administrative Law Appeals in Boston, Massachusetts.

Since joining the firm, Ms. Akst has practiced in the field of immigration law, representing individuals, families, and businesses in a broad range of immigration matters. She has been a member of AILA since 2013.

Today, as she leads the firm, Ms. Akst oversees the firm’s practice and continues its commitment to providing knowledgeable, thoughtful, and effective representation to its clients.
