Immigration Suspension: Latest Update

Lately, there has been talk of the government suspending all nonimmigrant visas, paralleling the recent Executive Order suspending all green cards. Although this sounds drastic, it is likely to be without actual effect to many nonimmigrant visa holders, as this rumored new Executive Order will likely only apply to new nonimmigrant visas issued by the US embassies around the world (like the recent one suspending green cards). If so, nonimmigrant visa holders in the US will still be able to file for extensions and changes of status while still in the country and thus will still be able to work and maintain nonimmigrant status, despite this rumored Executive Order. However, nothing is certain until the final Executive Order is issued. Stay tuned.
